Editorial Standards

Founder Insider covers business, startups, founders, tech, money, leadership and lifestyle for people who build and run companies. This page sets out how we work and how we label anything that was paid for.

Original work only

Everything we publish is written for Founder Insider. We do not republish other outlets' articles, in whole or in part, and we do not run automated feeds as editorial content.

Paid features

We publish paid feature coverage of founders and executives. Every paid feature is labeled "Paid Feature" wherever it appears, and every link to the subject's own websites and profiles carries rel="sponsored" so search engines treat it correctly.

The subject of a paid feature gets no approval over the copy. They may point out a factual error, and we will fix it if the record supports them. Payment buys the commission and the production. It does not buy a conclusion, and editorial coverage cannot be bought at any price.

What we will not do

  • Invent awards, rankings, credentials or statistics for anyone.
  • Publish a paid link without marking it as sponsored.
  • Present a paid feature as independent editorial.
  • Take payment to remove or soften accurate reporting.
  • Put a person's name on work they did not do.

Sourcing

We name sources wherever we can and link to public records, filings and primary documents when we rely on them. Where we grant anonymity, it is because the source faces a real professional or legal risk, and an editor knows who they are.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it on the article and add a dated note saying what changed. Send the article URL and the specific error to corrections@founderinsidermag.com. Our corrections page explains the process in full.
